Femke Kleisen Designs

For over 25 years I have been a self-employed goldsmith, with a passion for nature. This love for trees, flowers, birds and other animals can be found in almost all my jewellery. When designing, I am guided by natural lines and stylized shapes, creating unique and beautiful jewellery. These are both suitable to wear every day and to choose for special occasions: they offer the opportunity to add a special accent to any outfit.

Each piece of jewelry comes in its own distinctive branded packaging with a unique code and certificate of authenticity.

About Femke Kleisen

Pretoria in South Africa is where I was raised. Ever since my childhood, I preferred to be creative. I attended high school at the “Pro Arte High School,” with final exam subjects including sculpture, painting and design. It was very natural for me to work with my hands and to be creative with my own ideas. My passion for shaping and creating was expressed early on in designing and crafting jewellery.

After graduating as a goldsmith in Schoonhoven, I returned to South Africa. Here I practiced the creative craft of goldsmithing for 25 years. My strength as an artist lies in creating unique jewellery inspired by nature.

I am currently living back in the Netherlands and continuing to develop in coming up with original designs. In Renswoude, in the province of Utrecht, I now have my own studio where I turn my inspiration into original jewellery.

I also still work with a colleague in South Africa, Rinus Franken, who manufactures my jewelry line in gold, silver and platinum for my clients in South Africa.

About Rinus Franken

Rinus Franken also grew up in Pretoria, South Africa. Because he has a natural aptitude for drawing, he attended “Wonderboom High School,” primarily for art school. Thus, he was able to take art subjects as early as high school. Subsequently, Rinus chose professional training as a graphic designer at the “CUT Training College” in 2010, after which he successfully pursued this profession.

He discovered his love for jewelry making through my inspiration, positive guidance and encouragement. In my studio, he learned to make jewellery and has continued to develop into an independent working goldsmith. He lives out his passion to be creative as he has made both goldsmith and graphic designer his profession.
